I wan to take this opportunity to tell you Antioch what we are doing in education. This Sunday is Scholarship or Education emphasis day, we do this every fourth Sunday. My emphasis on our ministry will be concerning what we are doing to promote this goal of education in our church and Community. In 1994, on year after my call to Antioch, we set forth a program to fund our Corabelle Haughton Scholarship program. This program was called then the 5 & 10 program, presently we call it the 3 & 7 program. This simply means that three per cent of all that we take into the church goes towards our scholarship program.
Over the course of the last five years our efforts in giving scholarships to our young people have grown tremendously. We now have two scholarship programs, Corabelle Haughton Scholarship and Mal Duncon 4 for 40, along with these are the Austin Hutchins Loan program. God has blessed out church to give $25,000 dollars in funds to young people. Our goal is to fund the scholarship accounts at $100,000 dollars plus. We have a ways to go before we get there but I believe we are going to make it.
I want to take this time to thank you, Antioch, as a church. You have risen to the challenge and put your money where you heart is. I want to commend the Christian Education Ministry also for their diligent efforts in bringing our hopes to life. The church of the living God mist always work as a team to bring about the kingdom's advancement. Let us praise God for the great things that he has done, is doing, and will do for us.
