A Call To Leadership With Kingdom Direction

Then they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us; make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the LORD said, "Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may bot understand one another speech." So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.

Gen 11:3-8 (NKJ)

Today Antioch embarks on a fresh leg of our journey. We are installing officers for the new year. It has been stated many times that this is a new century, the 21st Century. The question that fills my heart is what kind of leaders will please God. Clearly it it not the kind of leaders that we find in Genesis 1:3-8. From a reading of the test you can see that all the people are united together. We would say that, that was good. The people pooled all their resources. We would say that, that was good. The people wanted to do something that was memorable. We would say that, that was good. Every time we determine something is good does not mean we ought to be doing it. The bott om line is.. what is the will of God?

In the year 2000 as a church we are saying "Here Am I" and looking for God to use us. We must be clear about something. If God is going to use us we must know what He wants from us. God, first, seeks those who will worship him in Spirit and in truth. God, thirdly, seeks those who love his appearing. There three things are but a part of what God requires for those who would lead. The wonderful thing is these are the same things he requires of all his children.

To day as our leaders and we the church pledge ourselves to the work of the kingdom of God let us do this with humility. Let us endeavor through prayer to know the will of God. Let us through study of the word establish ourselves in the principles of righteousness. Here Am I!
