Here at Antioch, we are Disciples for Christ, the Church of Three Ships: Worship, Friendship, and Fellowship; Where our worship is produced by our daily devotion with God, Where our friendship is produced by our love, Where our fellowship is produced by our relationship with Christ. Here at Antioch, we are Kingdom Building.

As I sat here at my computer, trying to pin y thoughts about all that has happen in our Nation over the last week, especially the tragic that hit our country with the terrorist attack against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, I find that there is so much for my mind, my thoughts, and my heart to process and so much that I and others I'm sure, don't understand.  But in all this, the one thing that keeps coming back to me is, the Sovereignty of God, the Knowledge of Who He Is, the Assurance that His Promises are true, the Absolute that He is the I AM.

You may now, however, ask the question, "How do I know that these things are true?", for which I can respond y saying, It's in His Word.  You see His Word is our road map, but just knowing the word isn't enough... you gotta have Faith.

An article by Maureen Eha in Charisma and Spirited Led Woman, said the following, "recently when I was praying, the Lord showed me a vision of a ladder that stretched from earth to heaven.  A man was on the ladder trying to climb it, but he kept sliding down.  It was if the sides of the ladder were covered with grease.  In spite of his desire to get to the top and his determination to keep pulling himself up, he couldn't make it.  Then the Lord said, "You can't do it on you own strength.  Yu need some Holy Ghost talcum to help you get your grip.  Immediately this Scripture came to mind, "After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?"  (Gal 3:3, NIV).

When I red that excerpt, it made me think about the series that Pastor Coleman has been preaching and teaching since early July, on FAITH, and I had to ask myself the same questions that he posed to us ... Can I Overcome with the Over comer?  What kind of Faith do I Possess?  Do I Believe?  Do I possess the fruitfulness of Faith?  Does my Faith cause God to Respond? Does my Faith line up with God's Expectation?  A, I on the Threshold of a Promise?

Have you answered these questions as it pertains to ;your life?  What will your answer be?  Think about it!!!!!!  Also, as you try to put the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 in prospective and many try to answer the questions many are asking about "Where was God in all this?", please include the scriptures below as well as the remaining verses 12-18 as you ponder your answer.

Exodus 20:3-11 states, "Thou shalt have o other gods before me.  Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love, and keep my commandments.  Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Six days shalt thou labour, to do all thy word; But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thou daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.

VISION PLANTERS - SACRIFICIAL GIVING

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall rep also bountifully.  2 Corinthians 9:6

The Antioch Baptist Board of Trustees would like to thank all Antioch members for giving extra as God has blessed you.  We, as a church, have truly been blessed.

Out of a membership of over five hundred, only one hundred twenty-one members have pledged to give a monthly Sacrifice over and above their regular tithes and offerings for the church-remodeling project.  ;However, we are not receiving the full amount that was pledged.

We need your help.  We are asking those who have pledged, to please continue as God continues to Bless you.  Those who have not pledged, please start by giving at least twenty-five ($25.00) a month above your regular tithes and offerings.

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.      2 Corinthians 9:7

From Ronald S. Haughton & Family

Enclosed are reprints of some of the pictures that I took during the "Bon Voyage" fellowship for our Mother, Mrs. Cora Belle Haughton.  My wife and I believe that this fellowship was an outstanding "farewell from Waterloo" for Mother.  It was wonderful for Mother to hear so many compliments and so much love from friends, family and former c-workers.  Everything was enjoyable - the service, the testimonies, the refreshments and the socializing.  Please share these pictures and our heartfelt thank-you with the Church and Ministries responsible for organizing this event.

I have heard many good reports about the Antioch activities for senior citizens over the past five years.  During thirty years of living in Michigan and the last five years living in Omaha, I have never seen a church do as much for its seniors as does Antioch Baptist Church or Waterloo, Iowa.  Equally impressive is the Antioch focus on children and their education.  I am positively impressed with the steady improvement of Antioch's physical facilities - the classrooms, the paved parking lots, etcetera.  I am proud to say that Antioch was my original church home.

I have been blessed with the ability to contribute $100.00 to the Cora Belle Haughton Scholarship Fund of Antioch each year since 1997 (most recently August 2001) and as indicated in my letter to you on October 1997, I hope to make an equal or greater contribution every year.  Enclosed now is a contribution to the general expense of Antioch.

My wife and I hope to be back in Waterloo next summer for my high school class reunion and we plan to visit Antioch.  Thank you again for all that Antioch had done for my Mother.

Prayer Ministry

WE BELIEVE that prayer offered in faith is man's most powerful resource, for  by it we may induce Almighty God to grant that which we desire.  Furthermore, we strongly believe that this ministry should render unto Almighty God proper praise and honor, with gladness and thanksgiving for His manifold mercies and goodness to mankind.

THE FOUNDATION of this prayer ministry is built upon the Jesus Christ, who is "the author and finisher of our faith" (Heb. 12:2).  "We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous," (1Jn 2:1).  He promises us that "whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive" (Matt. 21:22).  We have confidence that "if we ask anything according to His will" (1Jn 5:14-15), God hears us and that our petitions will be granted.

THE PRIMARY GOAL of this ministry is to be a supportive/functional prayer team - offering prayer support for evangelism, training, outreach, church planning, and other ministries within the church.  We also pray for out pastor and other church leaders, families, individuals, the sick and bereaved, the community, our nation, and other nations all over the world.

THE VISION for this ministry is that it will become fruitful and Kingdom Building, in that we will find opportunities to co-sponsor prayer ministry activities with other committees and organization within Antioch.

We invite all Spirit-filled Prayer Warriors, who acknowledge their dependence of God's Power, to join us in this ministry.

FUNNY ISN'T IT?

Funny how a $100 "looks" so big when you take it to church, but so small when you take it to the mall.

Funny how long it takes to serve God for an hour, but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball.

Funny how long a couple of h ours spent at church are, but how short they are when watching a ;movie.

Funny how we can' think of anything to say when we pray, but don't have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend.

Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball games foes into extra innings. but we complain when a sermon is linger than the regular time.

Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.

Funny how people want to get a front seat at any game or concert, gut scramble to get a back seat at church services.

Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks advance notice to fit a church event into our schedule, but can adjust our schedule for other events at the last moment.

Funny how hard it is for people to learn a simple gospel well enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people to understand and repeat gossip.

Funny how we believe what the newspaper says, but que3stions what the Bible says.

Gunny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, or think, or say, or do anything.

Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing,

FUNNY, ISN'T IT? Are you laughing?  Are you thinking?

>>>>Spread the Word and give thanks to the Lord for He is good?>
